How this test measures
The test runs against the nearest Cloudflare data center, shown above as the server. Results describe the path between you and that server, which can differ from the path to a particular website, game or call server.
Ping is the median round-trip time of 60 small requests, and jitter is the average difference between consecutive ones. Download and upload use files of growing size sent one after another over a single connection, and the result is the 90th percentile of the requests that ran long enough to be reliable. Speeds are in megabits per second (1 Mbps = 1,000,000 bits).
Because it uses one connection, the test can read lower than a multi-connection test on very fast or distant links. Wi-Fi, a VPN, other devices and a busy browser can all lower the result, so use a cable and close other apps for the most accurate number. Nothing from the test is stored on our servers.
Powered by Cloudflare's network. No account needed.
Run the test below to check your C Spire speed. C Spire Fiber plans are symmetrical, meaning download and upload are the same, and in the places it is offered the plans range from 300 Mbps up to multi-gigabit speeds.
What speeds to expect
C Spire is a Mississippi-based provider that also serves parts of neighboring states. Its fiber plans are sold in select areas, for example at 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps, with faster multi-gigabit tiers in some places. Other customers may be on older connections that are slower, so what you should see depends on your address and plan. Look up your plan's speed on your bill or account.
Wired results should land at or a little below your plan's number. Wi-Fi results are usually lower than wired.
How to test accurately
- Connect a computer to the router with Ethernet.
- Close apps that use the network and pause other devices.
- Run the test two or three times, at different times of the day.
- Note download, upload, ping and jitter.
If your download speed is slow
- Check Wi-Fi first. Test again over Ethernet. If wired is much faster, improve your Wi-Fi: move the router to a central spot, use the 5 GHz band or add a mesh node.
- Restart your equipment and update the router's firmware.
- Check your gear. An older router may not handle gigabit speeds. Look for Wi-Fi 6 or newer and gigabit ports.
- Look for heavy users. Backups, game updates and streams share the connection.
- Contact C Spire if wired speed stays well below your plan, and share your results.
