Ping & Jitter Test
Measure how quickly your connection responds and how steady it is. These two numbers decide how smooth gaming and video calls feel.
Ping & Jitter Test
Ping
–ms
Median response time
Jitter
–ms
Average change between samples
Best / typical worst

How it is measured: the test times small HTTPS requests to Cloudflare's nearest server and subtracts the time the server takes to answer, so the result is the round trip over your connection. The first request is discarded as a warm-up, ping is the median of 30 samples and jitter is the average difference between consecutive samples. Results show the path to Cloudflare, which can differ from the path to your game or call server. True packet loss needs a different, UDP-based measurement that this test does not run, so sudden spikes and failed samples are the signs to watch here. Nothing is stored.

How to lower ping and jitter
- Use an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi, or move closer to your router.
- Pause downloads, uploads and streaming on other devices while you test.
- Restart your router and modem, then test again.
- Turn off your VPN, or compare the result with and without it.
- Test at different times of day. Busy evening hours often raise ping and jitter.
